Shamrock Mission

The Vermont Shamrocks bring together some of the most competitive hockey players from all across Vermont and neighboring states.  The goal is to provide a high level of hockey while promoting participation at the local level.  The emphasis is on skill development and teamwork by fostering a spirit of cooperation and unity, as well as individual self-growth.   We create a fun environment which focuses on important values such as sportsmanship, friendship, and love of the game.  The lesson at the end of the day is that succeeding is really more about how they play the game – win or lose.

New Partnership Announced for Spring Weekly Skills Program

New SPRING Skills Program Partnership!

https://www.girls4hockey.com/

The Shamrocks have partnered with Meghan Sweezy and Girls 4 Hockey (G4H) for Spring 2019.  The G4H coaching staff will be running eight weekly skills sessions at Cairns (starting April 11 mostly on Tuesday or Thursday evenings in the 5/6pm range); these sessions will be open to ALL Spring teams players at no cost. Discounted access to G4H spring skills sessions will be included as part of all spring players' fees. The dates and times of these sessions are listed on each spring team's schedule and the Shamrock master calendar.

Players can attend as many of the on-ice skill sessions as they want. Skill sessions will include goalie specific training and are totally independent from any team practices over the spring.  This is a great opportunity to work on skill development, work with different (all female) coaches, and interact with former NCAA coaches and players.  For more information on G4H visit their website linked above.

Shamrocks Split Season Model

16AA 2018 NE Champions

Announcement:

The VT Shamrocks Asociation will not be deviating from their traditional game schedule that starts in September and pauses from Thanksgiving until March and then reforms (if qualified) to compete in New England and USA Hockey Nationals.

The VT Shamrocks Split-Season teams are in discussion about joining a split season league in southern New England. Participation in a formal league that plays on Sundays in the fall will help the split season teams schedule games and enjoy maximum exposure to college coaches.

The split season program has been highly successful in helping multi-sport athletes and HS hockey players continue to play for their scholastic teams while also enjoying a balanced club experience.  Many former Shamrock split season players have gone on to play NCAA college hockey.

Dates and times for Shamrocks split-season try-outs will be announced after the 2019 USA Hockey Nationals are completed.

All Shamrock Split-Season teams abide by VSAHA by-laws and are National Bound USA Hockey registered teams.

16/19 Summer Showcase Teams

Information about summer showcase teams will be released later in the winter. We will likely offer one 16U (2004 and 2003's) and one 19U (2002, 2001, 2000's). Typically there are open tryouts in late-April or early May, often at the same time as tryouts for the fall split season teams, and teams have attended the Beantown Classic in July and sometimes one other event. These are independent from any winter/split season roster. Preregistration is required and info will be posted here in February.
